Homeowner dog found in yard with string over roof. He researched and thought NOAA owned it. Has in plastic bag waiting on NOAA to call him back. Surprised when I showed up nowing which room of the house he has it in and that it is actual a Navy unmarked radiosonde. Holding until government tells him it is not wanted by them.

I had reported this one not recovered May 8, 2025, but decided to have a 2nd go at it. I had 3 options. Someone else had found it, it snagged a tree, broke the string and fell to the ground, or it had actually traveled further than the last reported position.I checked first around the base of the large maple, found nothing. I started walking in the field due south of the tree. Finally at about 200 feet into the field, I spotted the sonde. The balloon was a further hundred feet south. Second time was a charm !
