Unable to make contact with the property owner. Sonde is 300 feet off road in a field of standing corn at peak readiness for harvest... Signal is nice a strong and Retrieval would have been straight forward if the opportunity was there. Going to leave a note for the owner with coordinates... I'd hate to see one of tjose sucked into a combine!
UPDATE: Property owner contaced me and gave permission to recover. Made the trip out (10/17/2025) and recovery is complete.

600 foot walk across cow pasture and located the sonde 20 feet into the woods hanging from a tree but laying flat on the ground. The balloon was 120 feet up in the top of the tree. Of course it was 20 feet past an electric fence. I used my carbon fiber POTA pole with hook and managed to snag the line but brambles fought me trying to reel in the big fish. About 5 foot from the fence the hook broke off but I found a broken limb to make the final recovery and retrieve my hook as well. I now have a 30-foot pole instead of a 33 foot one. - Bill WB8ELK
